(W)rites of Passage Guest Teacher Workshop
Four-Week Flash Hybrid Workshop
What is hybrid? A hybrid genre is a genre that blends themes and elements from two or more different genres. Some examples include Selah Ann Saterstrom’s “IDEAL SUGGESTIONS Essays in Divinatory Poetics,” Julia Madsen’s “The Boneyard, The Birth Manual, a Burial: Investigations Into the Heartland,” and Steven Dunn’s water & power (to name just a few).
In this four-week online workshop, we will be working together within the framework of writing exercises, craft articles, and writing examples as you produce a draft each week in the hybrid form. With your fellow students, we will workshop and support your writing with a weekly Zoom call to discuss, vent, laugh, and read your work out loud. You will also receive extensive editing suggestions from me on your work and additional one-on-one meetings are available as well. Once the workshop is over, you will leave with the beginning of a hybrid collection to continue to work on after gaining confidence and support during our workshop and meetings. Cost is $300 with priority to BIPOC and LGBTQ writers. Registration is capped at 8 to maintain a more personal atmosphere. Registration can be made by emailing me your interest at: email@example.com

I will also be reading everyone’s work and providing detailed feedback. The cost is $200.
How to Cultivate a Working Relationship With Your Tarot Cards
So many of us own several Tarot decks and maybe don’t even feel a connection with any of them. Or maybe you’ve thought about making the commitment and buying your first Tarot deck but aren’t sure what So many of us own several Tarot decks and maybe don’t even feel a connection with any of them. Or maybe you’ve thought about making the commitment and buying your first Tarot deck but aren’t sure what the next steps are. Before you even begin working with your deck it’s important, just like with any new relationship in your life, to cultivate your new relationship and ensure it grows in the best way possible. So what does this all mean and what does it entail? In this two-part series workshop, you’ll learn which decks to choose based on your intentions/beginner/advanced Tarot reader and how to connect with your Tarot cards by rituals anyone can do with no fancy tools–just you and your deck! You’ll also be working with fellow students on how to cultivate an actual working relationship with your cards:
Week One (Part One):
Which Tarot deck do I buy? Learning how to interpret your own unique symbol relationship with your Tarot deck
Learning how to trust your intuition when doing card spreads
Week Two (Part Two):
Understanding that you DO NOT have to memorize all of the cards and their meaning! There is an easier way to read cards, I promise.
Practice doing Tarot spreads with your fellow students in a fun, safe, and supportive environment
You’ll leave this workshop with the confidence and tools to read your cards, understand the meanings behind each, how to do a simple Tarot reading for friends and family, and book recommendations to help you continue your journey.
Cost is $150 with priority to BIPOC and LGBTQ writers. Registration is capped at 5 to maintain a more personal atmosphere. Registration can be made by emailing me your interest at:
Ancestor Divination Workshop
Have you been feeling called to communicate with your ancestors but aren’t sure how to connect? Or have you already established a relationship with your ancestors but want to know how to strengthen your bond? Divination is a wonderful way to connect and establish a special connection with your relatives and ancestors (and friends, including fur family) who have passed over. Even if you are adopted are have no ties or knowledge of your ancestral line or relatives, you can still form a strong connection–whether it be with your actual bloodline or even a step-family or adopted family. The best part? Anyone can do it! In this three-part workshop, we will be using Tarot to connect with your ancestral line and to continue your work with establishing or strengthening your relationship.
We’ll learn all about ancestral spirits and why it’s important to connect and maintain a relationship with our ancestors who have crossed over. I will provide hands-on examples and ways to create your own ancestor altar, how to maintain it, the do’s and the don’ts, as well as rituals to honor your familial line.
We will create your own Tarot deck to communicate with your ancestors–either with your own photographs or with photos of artwork, photos, or symbols that speak to you. With tools you already have at home or can buy at the dollar store for under $5 dollars, we’ll craft a specialized Tarot deck involving your ancestors and your own relationship with them (whether you have one already or not) that will add an extra special touch and connection when forming your relationship and communication. I’ll go over the meanings behind each of the Major Arcana and dive into the symbols behind each to help guide your intuition when choosing how to create your own Ancestor Tarot deck based on the Major Arcana.
In our final week, we will assign your newly-created Tarot cards to each of the cards represented in the Major Arcana and how this ties in with your Ancestor Tarot deck, how to read your cards, and how you can use this deck to communicate with your ancestors.
The importance of establishing a connection with your ancestors and how they help us:
Questions in our lives
Intervention for our best higher purpose
